Honoring Stories Through Song: A Powerful Day with CreatiVets

Clare Cunningham was recently invited to participate in a CreatiVets songwriting event - an experience she describes as one of the most powerful and meaningful of her songwriting career.

CreatiVets is a transformative program that partners veterans and their caregivers with professional songwriters and musicians, giving them a platform to share their stories through the healing power of music. Participants travel from across the country to Nashville, where they’re warmly welcomed by fellow veterans who’ve previously completed the program.

During this special session, Clare had the honor of meeting Janet - the devoted caregiver and wife of a veteran. Together with fellow songwriter Bella, Clare spent four emotional hours in the writing room with Janet, transforming her story into song. The session was filled with tears, laughter, and deeply moving conversation.

As a heartfelt gesture, Clare and Bella gifted Janet the very guitar the song was written on - signed and personalized - as a lasting keepsake of her journey.

The next day, Clare went into the studio to bring the song to life. In just a few weeks, Janet will hold the final recording in her hands - a timeless memento of her love, strength, and unwavering dedication.
